Volleyball Game Preview: Richlands Blue Tornado vs. Virginia High Bearcats

Richlands hasn't had much luck against Virginia High recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blue Tornado will head out on the road to take on the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. Richlands will be strutting in after a victory while Virginia High will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Richlands got the win against Tazewell by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Blue Tornado in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Richlands took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-1, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Virginia High came up short against Lebanon on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Virginia High was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Lebanon's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.

Richlands will have to contain Marley Bishop as she made an impact in Virginia High's last game. She had 22 digs.

Virginia High's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Richlands, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

Richlands might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Virginia High when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Blue Tornado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
