Basketball Recap: Matin Bello Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Ola hadn't done well against Eagle's Landing recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Ola Mustangs managed a 66-62 victory over the Eagle's Landing Eagles. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 84-41 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Ola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matin Bello led the charge by going 5 of 11 en route to 20 points. Bello is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards.

Ola pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Eagle's Landing, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ola will welcome Jones County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ola is facing Jones County at the right time seeing as Jones County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Eagle's Landing, they will host Union Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eagle's Landing knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Union Grove likes a good challenge.
