Baseball Game Preview: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles

The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets will head out to face off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Aiken took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Gray Collegiate Academy by a score of 6-3. The match marked the Fighting Green Hornets' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Hunter Rarey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Cole Harmon was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Aiken's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
