Basketball Game Preview: Haines City Hornets vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

Two dominant guards in Eddy Hyppolite Jr. and David Allen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Haines City Hornets will welcome the Sebring Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Haines City will head into Saturday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They came up short against Apopka, falling 77-54. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Blue Darters are ranked 53rd).

Cole Williams put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 12 of 19 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high. Dequarious Marks was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Sebring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Discovery and fell 79-33. The game marked the Blue Streaks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Sebring's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10. As for Haines City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Haines City was able to grind out a solid win over Sebring in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 61-51. Does Haines City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sebring turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
