Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Coyotes vs. Tampa Prep Terrapins

Cypress Creek is 0-4 against Tampa Prep since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cypress Creek Coyotes will square off against the Tampa Prep Terrapins at 7:30 p.m. Cypress Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Cypress Creek is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Fivay on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cypress Creek was beaten by Fivay 87-55. The Coyotes were down 64-40 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Tampa Prep waltzed into their match on Monday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They strolled past the Cowboys with points to spare, taking the game 65-48. Given the Terrapins' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Cowboys are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tampa Prep's win came from a few key players Cypress Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was J'London Bivens, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Myheir Session was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Tampa Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Tampa Prep pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Cypress Creek took a serious blow against Tampa Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 60-25. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cypress Creek was down 46-15.
