Dresden's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand Houston County a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Fighting Irish recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Madison Holder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, McKenzye Castleman and Lilly McGee did most of the damage at the plate: Castleman went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while McGee went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Keely Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dresden made easy work of Union City on Tuesday and carried off an 11-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Jacie West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Kaylee Jarred was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Jarred, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central's record now sits at 20-3. As for Dresden, their record is now 12-13.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Dresden struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Dresden in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
