Basketball Recap: Centerville Piles Up the Points Against Cambridge City Lincoln

Centerville won the last time they faced Cambridge City Lincoln and things went their way on Friday too. The Centerville Bulldogs blew past the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles, posting a 75-46 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Centerville to victory were Ethan Vecera and Shea Hollendonner. Vecera shot 50% from the field on his way to 11 points in addition to eight assists and five boards, while Hollendonner went 7-for-10 to rack up 18 points. What's more, Hollendonner also posted a 70% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Jace Hollendonner was another key player, putting up 11 points and six assists.

Centerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Cambridge City Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Dustin Lunsford, who shot 83% from the field en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryne Sturgis, who posted eight points and three steals.

Centerville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Cambridge City Lincoln and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Centerville and Cambridge City Lincoln are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Centerville will square off against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville will be up against Union County's rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.61 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will take on Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe Central has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three matches.
