Basketball Game Preview: Jeffers Jets vs. Johnston Speedboys

The Jeffers Jets will head out on the road to square off against the Johnston Speedboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Jeffers was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Houghton. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Gremlins are ranked 126th).

Meanwhile, Johnston ended up a good deal behind Dollar Bay on Thursday and lost 45-26. The Speedboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Jeffers, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Jeffers was able to grind out a solid victory over Johnston in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 57-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jeffers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
