            Softball Preview: Garrard County Golden Lions vs. Boyle County Rebels        
        
		
        
        
            Garrard County hasn't had much luck against Boyle County recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Golden Lions are taking a road trip to  take on the Rebels  at 6:00  p.m. Garrard County will be strutting in after a  win while Boyle County will be coming in after a  loss.
Garrard County will roll into the  matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any  runs  on Monday, then bounced right back against Paul Laurence Dunbar  on Tuesday. The Golden Lions blew past the Bulldogs 16-6. The Golden Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine  runs or more this season.
 Emily Hounshell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out ten batters over  five innings while giving up  five earned  (and one unearned) runs off   nine  hits. Hounshell was also solid in the batter's box,  going 4-for-5 with three  doubles and one  RBI. She has been hot recently, having  posted three or more  hits the last three times she's  played.

 In other batting news,  Jazlynn Shelton was a standout: she scored four  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances. Those  four  runs gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Destiny Logan, who  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Garrard County  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .641. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
 Meanwhile, Boyle County was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Casey County.
 Garrard County now  has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Boyle County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
 Garrard County suffered a grim  15-5 defeat to Boyle County  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Lions avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
