Baseball Recap: A-Tech Extends Winning Streak to Three

A-Tech waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand CSI International Studies a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jovanny Frias and Justin Rivera were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Frias tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Rivera didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Frias has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Frias went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Rivera went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sergio Rosario, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Rosario is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Fabian Ojeda-Maldonado, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

A-Tech's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for CSI International Studies, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A-Tech will head out to challenge Brooklyn Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for CSI International Studies, they will venture away from home to face off against New Utrecht at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
