The Desert View Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Desert View comes in on four and Salpointe Catholic on five.
Desert View gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Marana as Desert View made off with a 9-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won three games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Orlando Pinedo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, Miguel Siqueiros and Mark Hollonbeck did most of the damage at the plate: Siqueiros scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Hollonbeck scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Iram Urias was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Desert View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic beat Estrella Foothills 7-2 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly five runs.
Ernesto Bojorquez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Aciel Guillen was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Desert View's record now sits at 5-2. As for Salpointe Catholic, their record is now 5-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Desert View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Salpointe Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert View might still be hurting after the 14-5 defeat they got from Salpointe Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2016. Can Desert View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
