Basketball Game Preview: Rossville Hornets vs. Tipton Blue Devils

Rossville is on a three-game streak of home losses, Tipton a 21-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Rossville Hornets will host the Tipton Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rossville is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Seeger 61-32. The Hornets were down 55-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Rossville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Burkle, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds, and Addi Burton, who earned seven points. Those seven points gave Burton a new career-high. Brielle Layton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Tipton played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 59-18 defeat at the hands of Kokomo. The Blue Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.

Rossville's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Tipton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-19.

Rossville might still be hurting after the 53-32 loss they got from Tipton in their previous matchup back in December of 2018. Thankfully for Rossville, Kelsey Mitchell (who went 7 of 17 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
