Baseball Game Preview: Edison Vikings vs. Bear Creek Bruins

For the second straight game, Edison will face off against Bear Creek. The Vikings will host the Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Edison came up short against Bear Creek and fell 8-3. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Bear Creek's part, Kevin Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Johnson has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jaxson Bayani was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Bear Creek is undefeated when Bayani posts two or more stolen bases, but 11-12 otherwise. Logan Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bear Creek is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13-1.
