Baseball Recap: Arroyo Grande Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Arroyo Grande, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against the San Luis Obispo Tigers on Monday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th (when they won 11-1).

Grady Pope tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Servin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Sweeney, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Arroyo Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Arroyo Grande's record is now 11-14-1. As for San Luis Obispo, their record now sits at 13-11.

Coincidentally, Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo will both be playing Lompoc the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
