Mount de Sales Academy hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Spalding recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sailors will take on the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. Mount de Sales Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Wednesday, Mount de Sales Academy got the win against Mercy by a conclusive 14-7. Considering the Sailors have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooke Fuhr made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Fuhr was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Ava McQueen was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Cece Brown also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Mount de Sales Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Archbishop Spalding, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over John Carroll on Wednesday.
Cessi Prince spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emily Ford was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Taylor Codi was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Archbishop Spalding's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their record is now 11-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount de Sales Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Spalding struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mount de Sales Academy couldn't quite get it done against Archbishop Spalding in their previous meeting on April 4th as they fell 7-2. Can the Sailors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
