Basketball Recap: Victory Baptist Academy Starts off Right with Win over Teays Valley Christian

Victory Baptist Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They managed a 60-56 victory over the Teays Valley Christian Lions. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 73-51 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Victory Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Cormican led the charge by going 8-for-20 on his way to 23 points and three steals. That's the most points Cormican has posted since back in December of 2024. Nathan Dillon was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Victory Baptist Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pipestem Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. The contest will give the Saints their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Teays Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvary Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will also be the Lions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
