Recap: South Pasadena Tigers vs. La Canada Spartans
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The South Pasadena Tigers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against La Canada by a score of 34-27. The win was familiar territory for South Pasadena who now have three in a row.
Jason Hong continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 327 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Hong was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
La Canada's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Macky Plocher, who rushed for 113 yards, and also threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Alan Razo was another key contributor, picking up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
South Pasadena's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for La Canada, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pasadena will take on Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Polytechnic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 737th, while South Pasadena is ranked 328th). As for La Canada, they will be playing at home against Temple City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Temple City is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
