Baseball Game Preview: Jerome Tigers vs. Mountain Home Tigers

Jerome will head out on the road to challenge Mountain Home at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Home took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Jerome, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Jerome faced off against Burley on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 7-4 win over the Bobcats.

Sawyer Tilley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tilley was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Jerome's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Orozco, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Mountain Home faced Burley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain Home saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Vivier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Mountain Home's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Jerome, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jerome hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Mountain Home struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Jerome suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Mountain Home in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Can Jerome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
