Baseball Recap: Humboldt's Run of 12 Straight Victories Now Over

Humboldt dropped their record down to 23-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Trinity Academy Knights. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cubs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Trinity Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For Trinity Academy's part, Josiah Sems made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Sems has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Braden Roberts was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Camdon Killgore also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
