Football Game Preview: Deep Creek Hornets vs. Western Branch Bruins + How To Watch

The Deep Creek Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Western Branch Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Deep Creek took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They slipped by Great Bridge 34-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since November 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, Western Branch and Grassfield faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Friday. The Bruins breezed past the Grizzlies to the tune of 52-6. Considering the Bruins have won three contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Deep Creek better keep an eye on Masyiah Montgomery. He was instrumental in Western Branch's win, rushing for 102 yards and one score on only eight carries, while also throwing for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.

Deep Creek pushed their record up to 3-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games. As for Western Branch, their record now sits at 5-3.

Deep Creek came up short against Western Branch when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 16-12. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
