Football Recap: Sweetwater Comes Up Short

After flying high against Morse last Thursday, Sweetwater came back down to earth. The match between the Red Devils and the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns didn't end well, with the Red Devils falling 30-13.

Although Sweetwater took the loss, they still got scores from Christian Corpus and Juan Alvarez.

Rancho Buena Vista was led to victory by Van Piercy and Kaipo Gutierrez. Piercy rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Gutierrez gained 102 total yards and two touchdowns. Piercy's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Sweetwater's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Rancho Buena Vista, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Sweetwater will welcome Escondido at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they will venture away from home to square off against San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
