The DeWitt Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Smackover Buckaroos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with DeWitt sitting on five straight victories and Smackover on 16.
DeWitt lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Rison, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Dragons never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Dragons have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

DeWitt let HARLEY GRAMMER and EMMA BAZAROW run wild. GRAMMER went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while BAZAROW went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits BAZAROW has posted since back in March. BELLE EASTERWOOD also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
DeWitt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Smackover made easy work of Drew Central on Thursday and carried off a 10-1 victory. The Buckaroos are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 12th game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Ava Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Smackover got a massive performance out of Taylor Darden, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emily Camacho, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Smackover pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for DeWitt, their record is now 15-3.
Everything went DeWitt's way against Smackover in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as DeWitt made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
