Baseball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Godby Cougars

The Menendez Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Godby Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Menendez has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Menendez is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against St. Joseph Academy, falling 12-5.

Menendez saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reeve Power, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Power a new career-high. Lucas Drake was another, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Godby started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against St. John Paul II. They lost 14-4 to the Panthers on Friday.

Israel Williams and Amari Jones stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williams scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Jones scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jones is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Patrick Garland also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Godby's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Menendez, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
