Baseball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Seton Catholic hit Apache Junction with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Prospectors came up short against the Sentinels, falling 17-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 back in March.

Apache Junction saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deegan Mctague, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. Martin Valenzulea also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Apache Junction has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Seton Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will take on ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Prospectors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Seton Catholic, they will face off against Globe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
