Basketball Recap: Lawrenceburg Takes a Loss

Lawrenceburg's tournament run continued when they took on Gainesville on Saturday. The Lawrenceburg Tigers took a 60-46 bruising from the Gainesville Hurricanes.

When it comes to explaining why Lawrenceburg lost, don't look at JP Izzo. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Knigga, who had seven points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Lawrenceburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Gainesville, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrenceburg will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Switzerland County at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Gainesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort White at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort White knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Gainesville likes a good challenge.
