Preview: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Plainview Pirates
The Osmond/Randolph Hawks and the Plainview Pirates will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Osmond/Randolph is hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses.
Osmond/Randolph fought the good fight in their overtime match against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Plainview lost to Hartington-Newcastle on the road by a decisive 43-29 margin on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Plainview came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Hartington-Newcastle is ranked 214th).
Osmond/Randolph has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Plainview, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
Osmond/Randolph came up short against Plainview when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 47-39. Can Osmond/Randolph avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
