The Decatur Golden Gators will head out on the road to challenge the Kentridge Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Decatur is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Decatur and Kent-Meridian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Golden Gators put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Golden Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Alex Dutenhoffer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other pitching news, Landon Le looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Decatur got a massive performance out of Cervantes (CJ) Gatterson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Gatterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Holloway, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Decatur hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kent-Meridian struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Kentridge's offense. They came up short against Mt. Rainier on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Chargers, who until this game were averaging 3.84 runs allowed.
Decatur pushed their record up to 19-1-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Kentridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6-1.
