Basketball Game Preview: Sublette Larks vs. Stanton County Trojans

The Sublette Larks will face off against the Stanton County Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Sublette is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Syracuse on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sublette came up short against Syracuse, falling 67-44. The defeat continues a trend for the Larks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Stanton County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wallace County on Friday.

Sublette will have to keep a close watch on David Crane and Gerardo Robles, a pair of players who had a big impact on Stanton County's prior game. Crane dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards, while Robles went 8-for-14 en route to 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. What's more, Crane posted four blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Arihm Gonzalez, who had six points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Even though they lost, Stanton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Sublette's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Stanton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
