Basketball Game Preview: Cotulla Cowboys vs. Hondo Owls

The Cotulla Cowboys will face off against the Hondo Owls at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Cotulla has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight losses, while Hondo will come in with five straight victories.

Last Friday, Cotulla was beaten by Jourdanton 66-24. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1425th, while the Indians/Squaws are ranked 299th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hondo). They blew past Woodsboro 69-30 on Saturday. The Owls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Cotulla's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Hondo, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

Cotulla ended up a good deal behind Hondo when the teams last played back in January, losing 52-33. Can Cotulla avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
