Basketball Game Preview: North Summit Braves vs. Gunnison Valley Bulldogs

North Summit is 10-0 against Gunnison Valley since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The North Summit Braves will head out to square off against the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Summit has 16 straight wins, Gunnison Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, North Summit really took it to North Sevier for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-36 victory. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 20 points or more this season.

Hartlynn Richins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12 for 18 on her way to 26 points along with seven assists and six steals. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. Hayzlyn Murdock was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and six boards.

North Summit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 22 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Gunnison Valley played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Duchesne, falling 56-17. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Summit pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Gunnison Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Everything came up roses for North Summit against Gunnison Valley when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 65-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Summit since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
