Baseball Recap: 16 Straight Home Victories for Canyon Del Oro

There's no place like home for Canyon del Oro, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Vista Grande Spartans on Monday. The Dorados have beaten the Spartans the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Tarrell Reid was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, David Adams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gatlin Geile, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Canyon del Oro's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Vista Grande, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Canyon del Oro beat the Spartans by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday.
