Softball Recap: Upper Cape Cod RVT Wins Going Away Against Barnstable

Upper Cape Cod RVT got themselves on the board against Barnstable on Friday, but Barnstable never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Red Hawks with a sharp 12-0 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly 12 runs.

Taysia Lopes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lopes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Upper Cape Cod RVT let Lucy Pesta and Rosalie Neville run wild. Pesta scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4, while Neville scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Kenley Thomas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Upper Cape Cod RVT has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.5 runs this season. As for Barnstable, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Upper Cape Cod RVT will head out on the road to square off against Bristol-Plymouth RVT at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Barnstable, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dartmouth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
