Basketball Recap: Gar-Field Takes a Loss

Gar-Field was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forest Park Bruins. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-31 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Gar-Field lost, don't look at Icys Carroll. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. That was a full 50% of Gar-Field's points, marking the 16th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rachael Grant, who put up ten points.

Gar-Field's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Forest Park, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.

Gar-Field and Forest Park could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Gar-Field (ranked 379th) will meet Charles J. Colgan (ranked 180th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Forest Park will face off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 248 places (343 vs. 95).
