Football Recap: Twinsburg Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Twinsburg's offense. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Hudson Explorers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Explorers are ranked 31st).

Hudson was led to victory by Christopher Horner and Brennan Funyak. Horner gained 84 total yards and two touchdowns, while Funyak rushed for 81 yards and one TD on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards Funyak has posted since back in November of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Twinsburg and nudges their season record down to 4-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Wadsworth (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 91.7% over those games). As for Hudson, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Twinsburg will challenge rival Nordonia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hudson is set to square off against their familiar foe Wadsworth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Explorers 8.2, the Grizzlies 6.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
