Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lafayette Central Catholic waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Maconaquah Braves. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2020.

Kiyah Sturgeon was the offensive standout of the match as she had 13 digs. Kylie DeBruyne also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lafayette Central Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive games.

Lafayette Central Catholic's record is now 7-4. As for Maconaquah, they moved to 12-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Lafayette Central Catholic and Maconaquah will both be playing Fountain Central the next time they take the court. The Knights will head out to face the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Braves will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
