Softball Recap: Leigh Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Leigh had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Woodside Wildcats 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Leigh let Sophia Hooper and Camryn Manning-Alarcon run wild. Hooper went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Manning-Alarcon scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Manning-Alarcon a new career-high in hits (three). Brianna Hooper was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Leigh didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-2 victory against Mountain View on the 28th. As for Woodside, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Sequoia on the 27th.
