Basketball Recap: Zakia Shreeve Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Glenwood Springs

Eagle Valley hadn't done well against Glenwood Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagle Valley Devils secured a 55-49 W over the Glenwood Springs Demons. The win continues a trend for the Devils in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won three in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zakia Shreeve, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Shreeve has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Addison Mandeville was another key player, going 5-for-9 on her way to 13 points and six steals.

Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivee Enewold, who went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Enewold a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lyndsay Helms, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

The victory got Eagle Valley back to even at 11-11. As for Glenwood Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Eagle Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-28 win against Battle Mountain on the 20th. As for Glenwood Springs, they have also already played their next game, a 52-50 victory against Summit on the 20th.
