Baseball Game Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

For the second straight game, El Camino will face off against Mt. Carmel. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, El Camino turned things around against Mt. Carmel on Tuesday. They never let the Sundevils get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 3rd.

Not much got past Zane Nordquist, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mt. Carmel off the board. Nordquist has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ethan Stelzer was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

With the defeat, Mt. Carmel broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-8. As for El Camino, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 11-11.
