Basketball Recap: Laurel Extends Winning Streak to Six

Laurel entered their tilt with Severna Park on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 65-54 win over the Severna Park Falcons. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 65-56 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Laurel was led to victory by Jermaine Taylor and Christian Brown. Taylor went 6 for 15 to rack up 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Brown dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Taylor's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Amadou Kaloga was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 12 points.

Laurel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Laurel pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Severna Park, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Coming up, Laurel will welcome Flowers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Flowers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Severna Park, they are taking a road trip to challenge Glen Burnie at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
