Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Gators vs. Wellesley Raiders

The Grafton Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Wellesley Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grafton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Southbridge on Wednesday. The Gators' pitchers stepped up to hand the Pioneers an 11-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Gators, who have now won five matches in a row.

Sean Griffin looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Schiappa, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Finn Gilmore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wellesley made easy work of Brookline on Wednesday and carried off a 6-0 win.

Grafton's record is now 11-4. As for Wellesley, their record now sits at 11-5.

Grafton couldn't quite finish off Wellesley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
