Basketball Recap: Jonathan Talbert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Long County over Beach

If Long County was feeling good fresh off their 73-44 takedown of Southeast Bulloch last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Long County Blue Tide fell to the Beach Bulldogs 55-50. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-46 back in December of 2024.

Long County lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jonathan Talbert, who posted six points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks. Kelvin Hayes was another key player, putting up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Newton, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Reid, who put up 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Long County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Long County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Beach, they have already played their next contest, a 65-60 defeat against Windsor Forest on the 14th.
