Basketball Game Preview: Frederick Golden Eagles vs. Skyline Falcons

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Frederick Golden Eagles face off against the Skyline Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... Frederick is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.

Frederick took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 50-20 victory over Centaurus. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Frederick can attribute much of their success to Zoe Wittler, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points and seven steals, and Izzy Howard, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Peiton Stone, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, Skyline had to suffer through a 100-7 loss at the hands of Broomfield. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Frederick's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Frederick strolled past Skyline when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 62-43. Does Frederick have another victory up their sleeve, or will Skyline turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
