Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Academy Eagles vs. Cornerstone Christian Lions

The First Baptist Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Cornerstone Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Saturday, First Baptist Academy strolled past Hill Country Christian with points to spare, taking the game 60-46.

Noah Napier was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy De La Rosa, who posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cornerstone Christian). They claimed a resounding 98-41 win over Austin Classical. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 41 points or more this season.

First Baptist Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

First Baptist Academy came up short against Cornerstone Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 49-36. Can First Baptist Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
