Point Pleasant is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Fort Frye on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Big Blacks took a blow against the Cadets, falling 46-14. The Big Blacks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

Meanwhile, John Marshall was beaten by Fairfield Union 50-14 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Monarchs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in West Virginia, while the Falcons are ranked 233rd in Ohio).

Point Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for John Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Point Pleasant couldn't quite get it done against John Marshall when the teams last played back in November of 2024 as they fell 34-21. Can the Big Blacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
