Volleyball Recap: Goddard Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Goddard and Maize South squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Goddard had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-9.

Maize South found their leader in sophomore Payton Southard, who had five digs and three aces.

Goddard has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-21 record this season. As for Maize South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 34-4.

Goddard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maize South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Hutchinson on the 25th.
