Soccer Game Preview: Douglas Byrd vs. Hoke County

The Douglas Byrd Eagles will head out to face off against the Hoke County Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglas Byrd's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Douglas Byrd fell victim to South View and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Tigers. That's two games in a row now that Douglas Byrd have lost by exactly nine goals.

Meanwhile, Hoke County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Southern Lee, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, Hoke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Southern Lee are ranked 102nd).

Hoke County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Douglas Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Douglas Byrd might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Hoke County in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
