Baseball Game Preview: York Falcons vs. New Kent Trojans

York hasn't had much luck against New Kent recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m.

It was a Battle of the Birds when York challenged Jamestown on Friday. The Falcons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Friday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Kent, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Grafton on Monday, sneaking past 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now won three in a row.

Jonah Sorrell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, New Kent's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Staskiel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

New Kent's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for York, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

York might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from New Kent when the teams last played back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
