Softball Recap: Bishop Conaty-Loretto Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It was a proper cat-fight when Bishop Conaty-Loretto took on Lennox Academy on Monday. Bishop Conaty-Loretto put the hurt on Lennox Academy with a sharp 17-5 win. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaslyn Sigaran and Lauren Castillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sigaran struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Castillo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Sigaran a new career-low. At the plate, Sigaran scored four runs, while Castillo went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Sigaran a new career-high.

In other batting news, Angelique Aguillon was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kaylah Araujo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for Lennox Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Conaty-Loretto will host Bishop Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Montgomery's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Bishop Conaty-Loretto's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lennox Academy, they will challenge Leuzinger at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
