Preview: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Wichita County Indians
The Southwestern Heights Mustangs will face off against the Wichita County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwestern Heights is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Monday, Southwestern Heights was the victim of a rough 48-23 loss at the hands of Syracuse. While losing is never fun, Southwestern Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Syracuse is ranked 19th).
Meanwhile, Wichita County had to suffer through a rough 67-39 loss at the hands of Sublette. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wichita County has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Wichita County had strong showings from Colton Harbin, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Christopher Michel, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Harbin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played.
Southwestern Heights' loss was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Wichita County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Southwestern Heights beat Wichita County 48-40 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Southwestern Heights repeat their success, or does Wichita County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
