Baseball Recap: Calhoun Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Calhoun ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Braxton County Eagles by a score of 13-10. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Devils also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Calhoun got a great performance from Kayden McCormick as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave McCormick a new career-high.

At the plate, Landon Church was incredible, going 3-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has become a key player for Calhoun: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-13 otherwise. Camron Jarvis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Calhoun kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Calhoun's record now sits at 9-14. As for Braxton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Calhoun has already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Roane County on the 29th. As for Braxton County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against Tyler on the 29th.
